Breasts are a great invention. I think of how similar we – all mammals – are. But we are valued and treated so differently. How come there is still no law saying that all mammals, also those in the factory farming, should be allowed to breastfeed their children? Animal rights organisations all over the Western world, have been fighting for it so long, but still it’s up to each farmer to decide whether, for example cows, can live with, and breastfeed their calves after giving birth. Most farmers immediately put the calf into a box and it will never meet its mother again. When our dog Lili got puppies, it was a wonder to see how they immedeately crawled up to her breasts and how milk came running automatically. Everything was so perfectly figured out.
