I photographed Abandoned Dogs when I worked as a volunteer at Green House Dog Shelter in Ukraine. The dogs had been rescued from bombed-out cities and villages in the east, from which all the humans had fled. A few dogs were obviously traumatized by their past, but most of them seemed fine. I have visited and worked in other dog shelters before, where all dogs have been strays. This shelter was different as most dogs had obviously lived with human beings. Maybe their owners had died or maybe they had to flee without being able to bring their dog?
The photos are made very analouge in the darkroom with liquid lightsensitive emulsion that I brush on handmade papers. They are unique, 63 x 49 cm.
