I was studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and realized how different my parents were from the other students’ parents. Almost all of my new friends came from a city and had parents with a higher education. When they came to visit my parents with me, they thought everything was extremely exotic. I could see how the countryside working class was very different from the backgrounds they came from. But on the other hand, if we look at parents as subjects, they have much in common. They all loose their children more or less when they move from home.
