Keen Competition 1997

8 min. Andrea Creutz & Lisa Strömbeck 1997.
Keen Competition, like the Seekers, is produced in a documentary spirit with humorous undertones. It shows the artists babysitting the daughter of a mutual friend. Beneath the surface of the pleasant image of women and children, a classic motif in art, a competition between the women is played out – over the child’s love and over which of the two who is the more competent in the role of stand-in-mother. Criticizing and admonishing each other in an effort to make each other feel insecure, it gradually becomes apparent, that the competition in itself is more important than the wellfare of the child.
